The Virginia Bar Association launched this program in tandem with Virginia Business in 2000. The polling is done by licensed Virginia attorneys each year, who are familiar with the stellar work of their peers. Attorneys are asked to identify cohorts in the legal world who have excelled in the 20 categories of legal specialties. More than 14,000 attorneys and 50 law firms were asked to participate, and directed to a balloting website.

Jamie Kessel is a Shareholder, and active within the American Association for Justice (AAJ) where he currently serves as Chair of the Motor Vehicle Liability section. He has been named to Virginia Super Lawyers every year for over a decade and has also been named to the “Top 50 in Richmond”  and “Top 100 in Virginia” attorney lists. “I am incredibly honored to receive this recognition. Being considered one of Virginia’s Legal Elite inspires me to strive for excellence and reinforces the importance of collaboration and support from my amazing team and the entire Allen Law Firm,” says Kessel.

Kari La Fratta is a trial attorney working out of Allen & Allen’s Charlottesville office. She had recent success with a $5.5 million medical malpractice case, and has been named to Virginia Super Lawyers’ Rising Star list. “It is an honor to be included among the 2024 Legal Elite. I am humbled to be recognized by my peers and colleagues in the legal profession as a standout in Civil Litigation, and I am reminded of how lucky I am to work at a law firm that supports my passion for representing clients in the courtroom,” says La Fratta.

Please join us in congratulating our attorneys for their advocacy in protecting the injured.
