Last night, a team of volunteers from Allen & Allen visited the Ronald McDonald House in Richmond. They were eager to create a home-cooked meal for weary travelers staying at the home while their children are in town for medical care.
The group had a wonderful time as they gathered in the kitchen, caught up with one another, and prepared a delicious meal. On the menu was chicken cordon blue casserole, salad, and homemade brownies for dessert.
It can take an emotional and financial toll on families when a child suffers from a significant illness. If families must travel out of town to provide their children with adequate care, it can affect their stress levels. The world-class hospitals in Richmond attract families from across the country, and The Ronald McDonald House helps to offset the financial burden of hotel and food costs. By providing world-class temporary housing and support services, families can be actively involved in their child’s care.
The Allen & Allen volunteers had a wonderful evening. Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and giving back to those in need got everyone into the holiday spirit.
