The Allen Law Firm always looks forward to the annual Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (VTLA) convention. This year was especially meaningful as we celebrated shareholder Derrick Walker’s installment as the 2025–2026 VTLA President. Derrick has made history as the first person of color to hold this prestigious position. Allen & Allen has a long-standing history of leadership within the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Derrick is proud to be the 8th member of Allen & Allen to serve as president of VTLA. We are excited to see the positive impact he will make during his term!
During his heartfelt acceptance speech, Derrick took a moment to express his gratitude to those who have supported him throughout his career — including his mentors, family, and colleagues at Allen & Allen. His speech called back to the theme of the convention, “Shaping Our Future”. During his presidential term, Derrick wants to ensure young lawyers feel seen and represented in the organization.
We’d also like to extend our appreciation to everyone who joined us for the annual Allen Party on Thursday night. It’s always a highlight to reconnect with friends and colleagues during this annual event. Derrick’s speakeasy-themed President’s Reception was the perfect way to end the weekend on a high note!
