The national convention for the American Association for Justice (AAJ) was held last weekend in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Allen & Allen was on hand to cheer on shareholder Derrick Walker. Walker received the Minority Caucus Stalwart Award from the association.
Those who have been members of AAJ for over 25 years are designated as Stalwarts; members with the experience and insight that they can share with other trial lawyers within the association. The AAJ features several different caucuses, including the minority caucus. This networking group is for those who self-identify as a minority, and they participate in fundraising, education, and public service. Derrick received The Minority Caucus Stalwart Award for distinguished service within the organization.
This accolade comes as no surprise for people within the AAJ, as he has been a member of the executive committee since 2019, and received the David S. Shrager President’s Award in 2022. He is a natural leader outside of the organization as well, as he has served as chair on multiple committees within the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and has won countless awards in the legal space. This includes being listed in the Best Lawyers in America publication annually since 2017 and being listed as a Virginia Super Lawyer since 2013, to name a few!
