Meet Trent Kerns, attorney of counsel at Allen & Allen.
With more than 30 years of experience, attorney of counsel Trent Kerns is an accomplished client advocate in the courtroom. He is equally skilled at negotiating cases and is especially adept at timing settlement discussions to maximize his clients’ recoveries. Trent served as the president of the Allen Law Firm from 2012 to 2018. Trent and his law partner P. Christopher Guedri secured, what is believed to be, the largest single-plaintiff settlement in Virginia history, totaling $47.5 million.
Trent prides himself on his dedication to helping his clients and providing them with exceptional service. He strives to help clients persevere during difficult times and come out with the best results possible. Trent’s philosophy is to let the client focus on their health while he fights to get them the outcome that they deserve.
Throughout his legal career, Trent has earned a reputation for successfully handling difficult liability cases. When he joined Allen & Allen in 1992, Trent brought with him substantial experience handling personal injury cases and traffic offenses. He focuses his practice on catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases including car accidents, truck accidents, and motorcycle accidents.
Trent received his bachelor’s degree from Hampden-Sydney College and his law degree from the Mercer University School of Law. At Mercer University School of Law, Trent qualified for the National Moot Court competition and served as president of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.
While work requires him to be a “”landlubber””, Trent enjoys water sports, including fishing and boating along the Rappahannock River in his free time. He and his wife, Katherine, have two children.
